Is your tour safe?
Absolutely! We have been in business over seven years without
a single serious accident. Please see “safety” page for specific
information.
Do I need to make a reservation?
We recommend making reservations in advance. Our tours are
very popular and we do not want you to miss out on them!
What should I wear?
Wear comfortable clothing that you don’t mind getting dirty.
Shorts, t-shirts and either tennis shoes or teva type sandals work
well. Rain gear during the rainy season (May-December) can come in
handy.
Are there age limits?
Not really. The only requirements are that children need to
fit into our equipment and at times may need to complete the tour
with one of our guides. Most kids 5 and up can do the tour. There
are no upper age limits, former U.S. President Jimmy Carter, well
into his 70’s, completed a tour in 2000.
Other limitations?
This tour is not recommended for persons who are pregnant or
those with heart problems or seizure disorders.
All participants need only to be able to walk a distance (some of
it uphill) of about 600 ft (200 meters) and to be able to raise
your arms for breaking on the cables and to be able to raise your
legs when coming in at the platforms.
Also you must fit safely in the harness, this will be determined
by the guides. The maximum weight limit is approximately 260
pounds (125 kilos).
We reserve the right to deny any person from participating in the
Canopy Tour while under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other
mind altering substances. Your safety, as well as others on the
tour, is our main concern.
Will we see wildlife?
Nothing is guaranteed but there is a high probability of seeing
something. As we are located in a primary rainforest, we have vast
numbers and species of birds, various species of monkeys, wild
pigs, and many reptiles.
Can I bring a camera?
Sure, just keep in mind that anything you take on the tour must be
carried by you all the way in a manner that leaves your hands
free. A small backpack is a good way to carry things. We are not
responsible for loss or damage to personal property and we cannot
recover items that are dropped.
What else should I bring?
It is recommended to bring insect repellent as the little critters
of the jungle can become a bit of an annoyance.
Are tours run in the rain?
Yes, it wouldn’t be the rainforest without rain! The tour operates
in all weather conditions except when there is lightning overhead.
In this case we wait until the lightning clears.
What if I am afraid of heights?
This is normal for most people. Usually after the first cable or
two almost everyone settles down and feels comfortable with the
tour. Many people who are afraid of heights end up having a great
time with a sense of accomplishing something new.
How long will the tour last?
Usually around 2 hours.
